About Dalyan

Iztuzu Beach is one of Türkiye’s important nesting beaches for loggerhead sea turtles, known as Caretta caretta. It is also a popular place for swimming, nature observation and coastal walks. Kaunos Ancient City and the Rock Tombs

Located across the river from Dalyan, Kaunos was an important ancient harbour city in the historic region between Caria and Lycia. As sediment accumulated in the delta over time, the city gradually became separated from the sea. Visitors can explore the remains of its theatre, baths, basilica, terraces and harbour.

The monumental tombs carved into the cliffs are among Dalyan’s best-known landmarks and can be viewed from the town centre and from boats travelling along the river. The Ancient City of Kaunos is included on UNESCO’s World Heritage Tentative List.

Lake Köyceğiz and Sultaniye

Boat routes heading north from Dalyan reach Lake Köyceğiz. With its peaceful bays, swimming stops and sunset views, the lake is one of the highlights of nature excursions around Dalyan.

Located on the lakeshore, Sultaniye Hot Springs are known for their thermal water and mud-bath experience. Opening hours, entrance conditions and available services may vary by season, so current information should be checked before visiting.
